Ashley Francis graduated from Edinburg High School in 2002, attended Millikin University and graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science/Physical Education. She earned her first Master’s degree in 2010 from University of Illinois in Sport & Recreation, earned her second Master’s degree in 2019 from Eastern Illinois University in Educational Leadership and completed her Superintendent endorsement in December of 2023. Francis taught Physical Education at Mt. Zion High School for fifteen years, Health Education through Illinois Virtual School for seven years, and was adjunct faculty at Illinois College for two years. She also spent many years coaching at the high school level, and in 2014 was awarded Macon County Girls Basketball Coach of the Year. She was a volunteer assistant coach at Illinois College for three years before hanging up the whistle to pursue her administrative degree and start a family. Francis became the K-12 Principal at Edinburg in 2021 before becoming the Superintendent and Elementary Principal in December of 2023. She resides in Edinburg with her husband, daughter, dogs, and chickens. They enjoy playing outside, fostering dogs, golf cart rides, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
