Edinburg Salutatorian, Jayce Kocurek, spoke about overcoming challenges as he was moved around from family member to family member and there was always fear of whether they would have food or a place to sleep. Kocurek moved in with Kyle and Jessica Kocurek and was later adopted. He was scared at first, but they became a family and he also became a big brother. He spoke how he always wanted to be a Marine, because that was maybe his only way out. However, when Jayce became a 3 sport athlete and was succeeding at academics, college began to feel like a reality to him. So he is headed to Illinois College to play football in the fall. After he finished his speech, there did not seem to be a dry eye in the gym, and he received a standing ovation. Edinburg is so proud of Jayce! Read his touching speech below.
